Hey everyone, Adam here, posting a collection of my weekly twitch streams where I focus on non-violent games, which I’m defining as “rewarding the player for intellectual and/or emotional engagement, rather than providing dopamine for combat and other violent accomplishments”.

The goal is to show the breadth of what the medium of video games can offer, and subsequently to dispel the myth that video games exist purely as a way to experience some kind of macho power fantasy the way a series like Call of Duty does. Video games are a medium, and one that arguably could provide even more varied experiences than film or books–two mediums that would never be assumed to only provide a single, harmful experience. So join my as I take you through games that provide wonderful alternatives to that type of game, from being empathy engines, to being a teacher of frustration tolerance, to elevating problem-solving skills– and more!

Tuesday: Max and Chloe reunite after five long years. Its messy and complicated. Chloe suffers from severe abandonment trauma, first losing her Dad to a car accident, then losing Max to Seattle and dealing with her lack of communication, and finally with Rachel’s disappearance. Worst of all, she has no environment within which it is safe for her to process any of it. However, she does seem to be positively affected by knowing that Max saved her life. In other news, David remains an abusive prick, Kate was drugged at a party and has a multi-make out video gone viral and ruining her life (no thanks to her family shaming her for it and Victoria spreading it), and snow began falling in 80 degree whether. It’s one hell of a time.

Thursday: We finished case 2! My accents were certainly off and I definitely should have refreshed myself on Russian accents, but regardless it was a lot of fun! Turns out, everything was a lot more complicated than we previously learned. Suffice to say, fear is a very powerful emotion, and Ms Pavlova experienced its power firsthand. Either way, we know the truth of Kazuma’s death, and now Ryunosuke is going to study like hell to be a lawyer before the boat arrives in London!

Saturday: Having finished Sam & Max Hit the Road last Saturday, this week we began the beloved classic Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis! This one has an interface I’m used to, so I’m much better at solving the puzzles than the last few weeks XD Anyways, Indy gets swept up in another adventure, this time in search of the lost city of Atlantis with an old flame by his side–one Sophia Hapgood, previously his assistant in the original expedition in Iceland that began all this and now his partner–and a professional psychic, to boot. Once again Indy is in a race against Nazis to find ancient something-or-others and everything is gonna get weirder before it gets saner.
